Welcome to the LakeLife, inspired by life at the lake. We are pleased to offer both martingale collars AND limited slip collars for all of our LakeLife Prints! Please use this listing to create your own martingale or limited slip collar, in your choice of width and hardware. Here's how it works:
1) Choose your LakeLife print
Each style of collar is made entirely from webbing. Please note that we do not use martingale chains in our products. Please see the photo for examples.
2) Select your collar width and hardware colour
Choose between a 1" and 1.5" width. Martingales and limited slip collars are not offered in 3/4" width. The hardware colour reflects the finish of the hardware used for the d-ring and slides.
3) Choose the collar size
Sizing in martingales and limited slip collars is very important to ensure they function optimally. Neither style has a buckle, and requires that the collar be slid over the dog's head. Please see the photos in the listing which provide detailed measuring instructions. If you have questions regarding your dog's measurements, please contact Lewis & Clark Collar Co. prior to ordering.
4) Choose between a martingale and limited slip style.
Each style offers additional protection for dogs who can back out of their collars. The control loop area on each collar will tighten as the dog pulls on the leash, which limits the dog's ability to back out of the collar.
Martingales: Feature two separate loops - a main loop, and a smaller control loop. The control loop is made out of webbing and is where the leash attaches.
Limited Slips: One single piece of webbing with an integrated sliding control loop. Some owners find these sleeker and less bulky.
Creation & Shipping Timelines
Please note that all LakeLife items are made-to-order and are subject to a 3-4 week production time prior to being shipped.
Items are made in the order received for each print. In the event that your chosen print is sold out due to a material shortage, you will be notified as soon as possible and offered a full refund or your choice of alternate available webbings. Thank you for supporting small business!
LakeLife collars are adventure ready, featuring:
- Custom fabricated silicone tags
- Sublimated polyester webbing designed to be super strong with low water and snow absorption rates
- Independently licensed artwork, designed by fellow small businesses
- Nickel-plated steel d-ring or solid brass d-ring.

Please consult our size guide to determine the perfect fit for your dog! Please note that not all widths are available in all sizes. Extra Small is only available in 3/4" wide - please note that this may be too wide for the smallest pups.

Please be sure to measure for the length AND width of your selected collar, as errors in either measurement may make the collar an improper fit for your dog. Please note that the weight and size of the hardware increases as the width of the collar increases. Please consider these factors if you have a small dog.
Your Dog's Safety
You know your dog best! Please review the features and usage of our products to determine if they are suitable for your pup. None of our products are designed to be used as outdoor tie-out devices, or in conjunction with tie-out devices. Our collars have been used with dogs of all shapes, sizes, and weights. If your dog loves to pull, please consider the use of a harness to better support your dog's health. Collars can be fashion accessories, too!
Returns & Exchanges
Please note that your purchase is not eligible for return or exchange. Each item is custom made to your chosen width, style and hardware choices. This high level of customization, as well as high postage costs, limit the ability to offer returns and exchanges.

Shipping
We ship using Canada Post. Please note that local pick-up and/or drop-off is not available at this time. Orders over $125CAD (before taxes) ship free! 1" wide martingales and limited slip collars (in sizes medium and large) can ship using untracked, oversized lettermail), when ordered without other products. All other martingales and limited slips will need to ship using tracked postage.
